I've visited both campuses and really feel like I'm making a choice essentially between lifestyles. Denton is really lovely. Love the communications department (Dallas is very close to Denton so it's great to get into advertising firms in the area), love the REAL community dorm, love the people, color/spirit, reputation, and I'm in love with the fact that the campus is submerged in the arts...but I'm worried I'll have trouble making friends with the high commuter rate and I never want to feel alone in college. I'm worried about that. UT Austin seems colder to me (as in, they really leave you alone), but that clues me in that the students feel more independent. But the experience just seems extraordinarily awesome...living in Jester and having an endless amount of things to be involved in and people to meet. If I made the major and all, I think it would give me just as many opportunities as North Texas in most likely more settings, but I also worry about becoming invisible in the presence of so many outstanding people with perfect GPAs. They're different worlds. Suburbs vs city, arts-focused vs sports-focused, modest vs (no offense Longhorns) kinda bigheaded (although for good reason)... This choice only comes along once. I'm probably rambling. Please reply with good insight and not bullshit about which football team is better.... Read More »
